A private transfer from Passau to Prague covers 220 km — north on the B12 through the Bavarian Forest, across the Czech border at Philippsreut–Strážný, down through the Šumava foothills past Vimperk and Strakonice, then the D4 motorway past Příbram into Prague — and takes approximately 2.5 hours door to door. The fixed fare starts at €340 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers; groups of up to 6 travel in the V-Class from €375; the S-Class is available from €560 for executive or VIP travel. Your chauffeur collects you at your Passau hotel, at the river cruise landing on the Danube or at Passau Hauptbahnhof, and drops you at the door of your Prague hotel, apartment or meeting.
The fare is set before you travel: fuel, the Czech motorway vignette, every toll, bottled water, Wi-Fi and child seats on request are included. Coming off a Danube cruise with a week of luggage, you load it once at the ship and see it again at your Prague hotel.
The Route
Passau to Prague
in two and a half hours.
From the Altstadt peninsula, the Residenzplatz or the cruise landing below the cathedral, your chauffeur heads north on the B12 into the Bavarian Forest. The road climbs steadily through Freyung and the wooded hills to the border at Philippsreut–Strážný, high in the forest. It sits inside Schengen: no stop, no check in normal conditions.
On the Czech side Route 4 descends through the Šumava foothills to Vimperk and on across open South Bohemian country to Strakonice. Further north the road becomes the D4 motorway, which runs past Příbram and straight into the southwest of Prague. Total distance is approximately 220 kilometres; driving time is two and a half hours in normal conditions, closer to three on a busy summer weekend.
In winter the B12 pass can carry snow and ice when Passau is only grey. Your chauffeur checks the border road before departure and, if the pass is difficult, takes the longer way round rather than risk it. You still arrive in Prague the same afternoon, with time to settle in before dinner.

Stops on the Way
Make the drive
part of the trip.

Treetop Walk in the Bavarian Forest

The Chauffeur
What to expect
from your driver.
Your chauffeur meets you where you are in Passau — at the hotel door, at the station or at the foot of the gangway as your ship ties up. Cases, garment bags and the shopping from a week on the Danube go into the car once and are not touched again until Prague.
The Bavarian Forest road is a quiet, scenic drive, and how you spend it is up to you. Sleep, read, make calls or ask about Prague — which bridge to cross at sunset, how far your hotel is from the Old Town Square, where to have dinner on a first night.
Water, a charger and Wi-Fi are in the cabin. If you want a coffee stop in the forest or a slower pace on the mountain road, say so. In Prague your chauffeur brings the luggage into the hotel lobby rather than leaving it on the pavement.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a private transfer from Passau to Prague take?
Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes door to door: the B12 through the Bavarian Forest, the Philippsreut–Strážný border, Route 4 past Vimperk and Strakonice, and the D4 into Prague. Busy summer weekends or snow on the border pass can add 30 minutes or more.
How much is a taxi or chauffeur from Passau to Prague?
A fixed fare from €340 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers, €375 in the V-Class for up to 6, or €560 in the S-Class. The price includes fuel, the Czech vignette, all tolls and driver time — it is per car, not per person.
Can you collect us from our Danube river cruise in Passau?
Yes, and it is one of the most common bookings on this route. Send us the ship name and disembarkation date. Your chauffeur meets you at the landing, loads your luggage and drives you directly to your Prague hotel. Pickup from Passau Hauptbahnhof or any hotel works the same way.
Is a private transfer better than the train or bus from Passau to Prague?
There is no direct train, and rail connections need at least one change and take considerably longer than the drive. Direct coaches are the cheapest choice for a solo traveller with light luggage. For two or more people, or a cruise’s worth of bags, the private car is door to door and the fare is the same for one passenger or three.
Can we stop on the way from Passau to Prague?
Yes. The Bavarian Forest treetop walk, Prachatice and Svatá Hora above Příbram are the favourites. Tell us at booking and we include the stop in a fixed quote. A short coffee or rest break is always included at no extra cost.
Is the border road open in winter?
The B12 over Philippsreut–Strážný is a main road used all year, but it climbs into the forest and can carry snow and ice. Your chauffeur checks conditions before departure and takes the longer route if needed. Both countries are in Schengen, so there is no routine passport control — carry your passport or EU ID card anyway.
