A private transfer from Linz to Prague covers 235 km — out of the city on the A7, north over the Mühlviertel on the S10 expressway, across the Czech border at Wullowitz–Dolní Dvořiště, then through České Budějovice and up the D3 past Tábor to Prague — and takes approximately 2.5 hours door to door. The fixed fare starts at €365 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers; groups of up to 6 travel in the V-Class from €400; the S-Class is available from €600 for executive or VIP travel. Your chauffeur collects you at your Linz hotel, an office on the Landstraße, Linz Hauptbahnhof or Linz Airport, and drops you at the door of your Prague hotel, apartment or meeting.

The fare is fixed before you travel: fuel, tolls, the Austrian and Czech motorway vignettes, bottled water, Wi-Fi and child seats on request are all included. No train change in České Budějovice, no taxi rank at Prague main station, nothing to sort out when you arrive.

The Route

Linz to Prague
in two and a half hours.

From a pickup on the Hauptplatz, along the Danube by the Lentos or at your hotel in the Landstraße quarter, your chauffeur takes the A7 north out of Linz and joins the S10 Mühlviertel expressway at Unterweitersdorf. The S10 climbs through a run of tunnels onto the high, rolling farmland of the Mühlviertel and passes Freistadt, the walled medieval town that marks the last stretch of Austria.

The border at Wullowitz–Dolní Dvořiště is inside Schengen — no stop and no check in normal conditions. On the Czech side the road runs north through South Bohemia to České Budějovice, then the D3 motorway carries you past Tábor and on toward Prague. Total distance is approximately 235 kilometres; driving time is two and a half hours in normal traffic, with an extra 15–20 minutes on a Friday afternoon as the last stretch of the D1 fills with traffic into Prague.

In winter the Mühlviertel plateau can hold snow when Linz is only wet, and your chauffeur checks the S10 and the border road before setting off. You reach Prague in good time for an afternoon meeting, a late lunch in Vinohrady or check-in at a hotel in the Old Town.

The Journey

Linz to Prague,
the route.

Linz

Pickup from your hotel, office, Linz Hauptbahnhof or Linz Airport (LNZ). At the airport your chauffeur waits inside Arrivals with your name.

Freistadt (optional)

The last Austrian town before the border — a walled medieval centre with gate towers and a quiet main square, right beside the S10.

České Budějovice (optional)

The South Bohemian capital sits on the route. One of the largest arcaded squares in Central Europe and the home of Budvar.

Anywhere you like

A castle, a lakeside lunch, a brewery tour? Tell us at booking and we plan the stop into the drive.

Prague

Drop-off at any Prague address, Prague main station or Václav Havel Airport (PRG) for an onward flight.

Good to know

Border crossing

Austrian–Czech Schengen border at Wullowitz–Dolní Dvořiště. No routine passport check — non-EU passengers should still carry their passport and visa.

Tolls

Austrian and Czech motorway vignettes and all tolls are included in the quoted price.

Winter driving

The Mühlviertel plateau north of Linz can see snow before Prague does. Your chauffeur checks road conditions before departure and allows extra time when needed.

Stops on the Way

Make the drive
part of the trip.

Two and a half hours leaves room for one good stop. These are the three we are asked for most often between Linz and Prague.

Freistadt, the Walled Town

Leave Linz at 9:00 and stop in Freistadt forty minutes later. Walk the old town walls and the main square for an hour, have a coffee, then cross the border and reach Prague by early afternoon.

Český Krumlov and the Castle

A detour of around half an hour from the main road brings you to Český Krumlov, the UNESCO town on the bends of the Vltava. Two hours for the castle courtyards and the old town, then on to Prague for the evening.

Lunch in České Budějovice

The road passes straight through České Budějovice. Stop for lunch on Přemysl Otakar II Square, or book a tour at the Budvar brewery, before the final run up the D3 to Prague.

Stops are planned at booking and priced by the extra time and distance — tell us where you would like to stop and we confirm a firm quote before you book. A short coffee or rest stop on the way is always included.

The Chauffeur

What to expect
from your driver.

Your chauffeur is at the door of your Linz hotel at the agreed time, car ready and engine warm. At Linz Airport they wait inside the Arrivals hall with a name board, track your flight, and take the luggage from the belt to the boot.

The drive is short enough to work through and long enough to rest. Take calls, finish your notes or watch the Mühlviertel go by — your chauffeur keeps conversation to what you want. Ask about Prague if it helps: where your hotel sits, which bridge to walk at dusk, how long it really takes to get across the Old Town.

Water, a charger and Wi-Fi are in the cabin from the start. If you want a stop in Freistadt for coffee or a warmer cabin for the plateau, say the word. In Prague your chauffeur carries the bags into the hotel lobby and hands you over at reception.

Why Prestigo

Why book with Prestigo
from Linz to Prague.

One price, agreed in advance

Fuel, tolls, both the Austrian and Czech vignettes and the chauffeur’s time are in the fare. What you are quoted in Linz is what you pay in Prague.

No connections to make

Rail between Linz and Prague runs through České Budějovice and is slow on this line. By car there is no change, no platform, no taxi at the far end — just one door to the next.

Prague is our home city

Prestigo is a Prague company running its own Mercedes fleet. Your chauffeur knows the hotel entrances, the pedestrian zones and the best place to stop in the Old Town, so the last kilometre is as smooth as the first.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a private transfer from Linz to Prague take?

Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes door to door: the A7 and S10 north from Linz, the Wullowitz–Dolní Dvořiště border, České Budějovice and the D3 to Prague. Friday afternoon traffic into Prague can add 15–20 minutes, and snow on the Mühlviertel plateau can add more in winter.

How much is a taxi or chauffeur from Linz to Prague?

A fixed fare from €365 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers, €400 in the V-Class for up to 6, or €600 in the S-Class. The price includes fuel, all tolls, the Austrian and Czech vignettes and driver time — it is per car, not per person.

Can you pick me up at Linz Airport or Linz Hauptbahnhof?

Yes. At Linz Airport (LNZ) your chauffeur tracks your flight and waits inside Arrivals with your name, with 60 minutes of free waiting. At Linz Hauptbahnhof we meet you at the station entrance agreed at booking.

Is a private transfer better than the train from Linz to Prague?

The train runs via České Budějovice and takes noticeably longer than the drive, with few direct services. A private transfer leaves when you choose, goes door to door and costs the same for one passenger or three. For a solo traveller with light luggage, the train is the cheaper option.

Can we stop on the way from Linz to Prague?

Yes. Freistadt, Český Krumlov and České Budějovice are the usual choices. Tell us at booking and we include the stop in a fixed quote. A short coffee or rest break is always included at no extra cost.

Do I need my passport between Austria and the Czech Republic?

Both countries are in the Schengen Area, so there is no routine border control at Wullowitz–Dolní Dvořiště. Carry your passport or EU ID card all the same — spot checks do happen, and non-EU travellers must have their documents with them.
