The Route

Český Krumlov to Prague
in two and a half hours.

Cars cannot drive into most of Český Krumlov’s historic centre, so your chauffeur meets you at the nearest permitted point to your hotel and takes the luggage from there. The car then leaves the Vltava valley on road 39 and runs north through the South Bohemian countryside to České Budějovice, about 20 kilometres away.

At České Budějovice the route joins the D3 motorway north past Hluboká and on to Tábor. North of Tábor the D3 is still being completed, so the last part follows the older Highway 3 through Central Bohemia before joining the D1 into Prague. The whole drive is inside the Czech Republic — no border, no second vignette.

Total distance is approximately 175 kilometres; driving time is two and a half hours in normal conditions. Allow 15–20 minutes more on a Friday afternoon or a Sunday evening near Prague. Your chauffeur checks the road before departure and adjusts if there are roadworks. You arrive in Prague from the south-east, close to Vinohrady and the centre, with the airport reached on the ring road.

Holašovice Village

A short detour west of České Budějovice to a UNESCO-listed village of South Bohemian folk baroque farmhouses around a long green. Forty-five minutes is enough, then on to the D3.

The Chauffeur

What to expect
from your driver.

Your chauffeur knows how Český Krumlov works: where a car can stop, how far it is to your hotel and how to get the bags over the cobbles. You walk out of reception and the car is waiting at the nearest point it is allowed to be.

The drive is yours to use. Sleep after a late dinner by the river, work, or ask about Prague — your hotel’s neighbourhood, where to eat, how long it takes to reach the airport. Your chauffeur follows your lead.

Water, charger and Wi-Fi are in the back. A coffee stop near Tábor is always possible. In Prague your chauffeur carries the luggage to reception, not just to the kerb.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a private transfer from Český Krumlov to Prague take?

Approximately 2 hours 30 minutes door to door: road 39 to České Budějovice, the D3 north past Tábor, then Highway 3 and the D1 into Prague. Friday afternoon or Sunday evening traffic near Prague can add 15–20 minutes.

How much is a taxi or chauffeur from Český Krumlov to Prague?

A fixed fare from €270 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers, €300 in the V-Class for up to 6, or €445 in the S-Class. The price includes fuel, the Czech vignette and driver time — it is per car, not per person.

Can you pick me up at my hotel in the Český Krumlov Old Town?

Yes. Most of the historic centre is closed to cars, so your chauffeur meets you at the nearest permitted point to your hotel and helps carry the luggage. Tell us the hotel name at booking and we confirm the exact meeting point.

Is a private transfer better than the bus or train from Český Krumlov to Prague?

Direct buses take about three hours, and the train needs a change in České Budějovice and usually takes longer. For a solo traveller with light luggage, the bus is cheaper. A private transfer is door to door, leaves when you want, carries all your luggage and costs the same for one passenger or three.

Can we stop on the way from Český Krumlov to Prague?

Yes. Holašovice, České Budějovice and Tábor are the most popular stops. Tell us at booking and we include the stop in a fixed quote. A short coffee or rest break is always included.

Is there a border crossing between Český Krumlov and Prague?

No. Český Krumlov is close to the Austrian border, but the drive to Prague runs north and stays entirely inside the Czech Republic. Only the Czech vignette applies, and it is included.
