A private transfer from Dresden to Prague covers about 150 km — south out of the city on the A17, over the eastern Ore Mountains into the Czech Republic, then the D8 motorway past Ústí nad Labem and down the Bohemian plain into Prague — and takes around two hours door to door. The fixed fare starts at €235 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers; groups of up to 6 travel in the V-Class from €255; the S-Class is available from €385 for executive or VIP travel. Your chauffeur collects you from your hotel in the Altstadt or Neustadt, from Dresden Hauptbahnhof or from Arrivals at Dresden Airport, and drops you at the door of your Prague hotel, apartment or office.
The price is set when you book and stays that way: fuel, the Czech motorway vignette, bottled water, Wi-Fi and child seats on request are all included. Two hours after leaving the Elbe in Saxony you step out in Prague with nothing left to organise — no platform, no luggage on the stairs, no second taxi.
The Route
Dresden to Prague
in about two hours.
From a pickup near the Frauenkirche, in the Neustadt or at Dresden Airport, your chauffeur joins the A17 on the southern edge of the city and climbs out of the Elbe valley toward the Ore Mountains. Germany charges no motorway toll for cars, so there is nothing to stop for. The border sits on the motorway itself, inside the Schengen Area: no routine check, no queue, just Czech signs and the descent toward Ústí nad Labem.
On the Czech side the road becomes the D8. It runs past Ústí and Lovosice through the volcanic cones of the České středohoří hills, then flattens out across the Bohemian plain and enters Prague from the north. Total distance is approximately 150 kilometres; driving time is about two hours. Weekday evening traffic on the northern approach to Prague can add 15–20 minutes.
Your chauffeur checks the D8 before setting off. If there is roadwork or a closure near Lovosice, they take the parallel road without asking. You reach Prague with time to spare — check in at a hotel in Malá Strana, leave the bags, and be on the Charles Bridge before the light goes.

Stops on the Way
Two hours,
or a little longer.
The drive itself is short, which leaves room for one good stop. These three are the ones we are asked for most often between Dresden and Prague.
The Bastei above the Elbe
Leave Dresden at 9:00 and spend an hour at the Bastei in Saxon Switzerland — the sandstone bridge, the rock towers and the long view down the Elbe. Back on the A17 by late morning and in Prague in time for lunch.

Terezín Memorial
Terezín lies a few minutes off the D8 near Lovosice. The Small Fortress and the ghetto museum need around two hours, taken at your own pace. The rest of the drive to Prague is under an hour.

Mělník and the river confluence
A short detour north of Prague brings you to Mělník, where the Vltava meets the Elbe below a château with its own vineyard. A glass on the terrace, then 40 minutes into the city.

Stops are planned at booking and priced by the extra time and distance — tell us where you would like to stop and we confirm a firm quote before you book. A short coffee or rest stop is always included.
The Chauffeur
What to expect
from your driver.
Your chauffeur is at the hotel entrance in Dresden at the agreed minute, not waiting around the corner. At Dresden Airport they stand inside Arrivals with your name and take the luggage from there.
Two hours goes quickly. Use it to answer email, call ahead to your Prague hotel, or simply watch the Elbe valley give way to the Bohemian hills. If you want to know which part of Prague you are staying in, or where to eat near it, ask — your chauffeur lives there.
Water, a charger and Wi-Fi are ready in the back. On arrival the bags go to the reception desk with you, not onto the pavement.

Frequently asked questions
How long does a private transfer from Dresden to Prague take?
About two hours door to door: the A17 south to the border, then the D8 past Ústí nad Labem into Prague. Evening traffic on the northern approach to Prague can add 15–20 minutes.
How much is a taxi or chauffeur from Dresden to Prague?
A fixed fare from €235 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers, €255 in the V-Class for up to 6, or €385 in the S-Class. Fuel, the Czech motorway vignette and the chauffeur’s time are included — the price is per car, not per person.
Can you pick me up at Dresden Airport or Dresden Hauptbahnhof?
Yes. At Dresden Airport give us your flight number — your chauffeur tracks the landing and waits inside Arrivals with your name. At Dresden Hauptbahnhof we agree a meeting point by the main entrance. Either way you go straight to your Prague address.
Is a private transfer better than the train from Dresden to Prague?
The direct train along the Elbe takes a little over two hours station to station and is a pleasant ride. For a solo traveller with light bags it is the cheaper choice. A private transfer makes sense when you have luggage, children or a group: it leaves when you want, collects you at your door and drops you at your Prague address — the fare is the same for one passenger or three.
Can we stop on the way from Dresden to Prague?
Yes. The Bastei in Saxon Switzerland, the Terezín Memorial and Mělník are the usual requests. Tell us at booking and we include the stop in a fixed quote. A short coffee or rest break costs nothing extra.
Do I need my passport between Germany and the Czech Republic?
Both countries are in the Schengen Area, so there is no routine border control on the motorway. Carry your passport or EU ID card anyway — spot checks do happen, and non-EU travellers must have their documents with them.
