From a pickup near Upper Square, in the university quarter or at the main station, your chauffeur leaves Olomouc south-west on the D46 across the flat farmland of the Haná plain. The road passes Prostějov and joins the D1 at Vyškov. There is no border on this route — it stays inside the Czech Republic from start to finish.
From Vyškov the D1 runs past Slavkov u Brna, the Austerlitz of 1805, and around the northern edge of Brno. From there it is 205 km west to Prague across the Vysočina, past Velké Meziříčí, Jihlava and Humpolec, before the road drops into Central Bohemia and reaches the south-eastern edge of the capital. Total distance is approximately 280 kilometres; driving time is three hours in normal traffic.
Your chauffeur checks the D1 before leaving Olomouc. If there is a closure in the highlands, they take the parallel roads around it without asking. Friday afternoons and Sunday evenings into Prague are the slowest times and can add 20–30 minutes; everything else is a steady, predictable drive.
