A private transfer from Prague to Salzburg covers 305 km and takes approximately 3.5 hours door to door. Fixed fare starts at €505 in a Mercedes E-Class for up to 3 passengers; groups of up to 6 travel in the V-Class from €580; the S-Class is available from €750 for executive or VIP travel. Every booking includes the driver's time, fuel, Czech and Austrian motorway vignettes, bottled water, onboard Wi-Fi, phone charger, and child seats on request at no extra cost. Nothing is added at drop-off. The fare is agreed before departure and does not change regardless of traffic or waiting time at your destination. Stops en route — Linz or Mondsee — are available at the fixed fare when arranged at booking. Your chauffeur monitors traffic before every departure and reroutes without asking if there is a delay.

This is not a shared shuttle. Not a ride-hail app stretched over three international borders. A private Mercedes, one chauffeur, and a fare that does not change.

The Route

Prague to Salzburg
in three and a half hours.

From a Prague pickup in Old Town, Vinohrady, Malá Strana, or Václav Havel Airport, your chauffeur takes the D3 motorway south through Tábor and České Budějovice — the most direct line to the Austrian border. The Czech–Austrian Schengen crossing at Wullowitz on the Austrian side and Dolní Dvořiště on the Czech side is invisible. No booth, no document check, no stop. The road becomes the S10 Mühlviertel expressway and drops into Linz on the Danube.

From Linz the route joins the A1 Westautobahn and runs west past Wels and Attnang-Puchheim into the foothills of the Alps, arriving in Salzburg at the Altstadt — the UNESCO-listed old town spread along both banks of the Salzach, crowned by the Hohensalzburg fortress, with Mozart’s birthplace on Getreidegasse and the Mirabell Palace gardens across the river. An alternative route via the D1 through Brno is available when the D3 has a section closure. Total distance is approximately 305 kilometres.

Your chauffeur watches traffic on the A1 before every departure. During the Salzburg Festspiele in late July and August, and on winter weekends when ski traffic pours toward Tyrol, the A1 west of Linz can slow. If it does, they reroute without asking. You are not paying for traffic; you are paying for time.

Day Trips from Prague

Popular day-trip
configurations.

Salzburg is three and a half to four hours each way from Prague, which makes it a comfortable day trip with an early start. Three configurations cover most requests.

The Mozart City Morning

Pickup at 6:30, arrive Salzburg around 10:30. Four hours in the Altstadt — Mozart's birthplace on Getreidegasse, the Residenzplatz, and a coffee at Café Tomaselli before the return to Prague.

From €900 — based on four hours on site.

The Hohensalzburg and Mirabell Afternoon

A slightly later pickup and five hours on site. The funicular to Hohensalzburg fortress for the panorama over the Salzach, then the Mirabell Palace gardens for the Sound of Music backdrop, then dinner on Judengasse before the drive back.

From €950 — based on five hours on site.

The Hellbrunn Palace and Trick Fountains

Early departure and six hours in Salzburg. The morning at Hellbrunn Palace with its seventeenth-century trick fountains, the afternoon in the Altstadt and the Dom cathedral. Your chauffeur repositions between the two stops.

From €950 — based on six hours on site.

Indicative prices based on the scenarios above. The final fare depends on the actual time spent on site. You can book the journey there and back with a 10% same-day return discount, or add hourly city rental from €40/hour if you need the chauffeur to move around the city with you. Tell us your plan and we confirm a firm quote before you book.

The Chauffeur

What to expect
from your driver.

Your chauffeur will meet you in front of your pickup address in central Prague — not in a parking lot across the street, not at an airport meeting point a ten-minute walk away. If you are at Václav Havel Airport, they are inside the arrivals hall with a Prestigo tablet displaying your name.

Conversation is a choice. If you want a quiet cabin for three and a half hours of work or rest, the chauffeur will read that signal and let you be. If you want context on Salzburg — how Mozart’s Getreidegasse birthplace became a museum, which Sound of Music locations are real and which are tour-bus inventions, why the Festspiele turned a provincial Habsburg town into Europe’s summer opera capital, how Salzburg works as the gateway into the Alps — your chauffeur knows it.

Phone charger, bottled water, and WiFi are already in the cabin. If you need a specific temperature in the rear cabin, say so. The route passes a real rest stop on the D3 near Tábor and another on the A1 west of Linz — both with proper espresso and clean facilities, not a petrol-station microwave.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a private transfer from Prague to Salzburg take?

Approximately 3.5 to 4 hours door-to-door. The primary route runs south on the D3 through Tábor and České Budějovice, crosses the Austrian border at Wullowitz/Dolní Dvořiště, then joins the S10 to Linz and the A1 west to Salzburg. Friday afternoon traffic out of Prague or summer Festspiele congestion can add 20–30 minutes.

How much does a chauffeur from Prague to Salzburg cost?

Fixed fare from €505 in Mercedes E-Class (up to 3 passengers), €580 in V-Class (up to 6 passengers), or €750 in S-Class. The price covers fuel, both vignettes, all tolls, and driver time. No hidden charges at drop-off.

Is a same-day round trip from Prague to Salzburg workable?

It is possible — roughly seven to eight hours of driving plus time on site — but most clients choose to overnight in Salzburg. The Altstadt, Hohensalzburg fortress, and Mirabell gardens are difficult to see properly in a few hours. If you do want a same-day return, your chauffeur waits on site and the return leg qualifies for a 10% discount.

Is there a border crossing between the Czech Republic and Austria?

Both countries are inside the Schengen Area. The crossing at Wullowitz/Dolní Dvořiště is invisible — no passport booth, no stop. All Prestigo vehicles carry both the Czech e-vignette and the Austrian motorway vignette.

Is a child seat available?

Yes. Rear-facing infant seats, forward-facing toddler seats, and booster seats are available at no extra cost. Please specify your child's age at booking so the correct seat is installed before pickup.

Can the chauffeur speak German?

A German-speaking chauffeur is available on request. Every Prestigo chauffeur speaks fluent English and Czech as standard.
