From a Prague pickup in Old Town, Vinohrady, Malá Strana, or the airport, your chauffeur takes the D3 motorway south through Tábor to České Budějovice and on to the Austrian border. On the Austrian side the S10 Mühlviertel expressway carries you down to Linz on the Danube. From Linz the A9 Pyhrn motorway runs south through Upper Austria and Styria — through the Bosruck and Gleinalm tunnels and past the limestone ranges of the Northern Alps — and into Graz. A detour via Vienna is possible on request, but it is not the main road.
The Czech–Austrian border at Dolní Dvořiště–Wullowitz is inside Schengen — invisible, no stops, no document checks. You arrive at the UNESCO Old Town, one of the best-preserved historic centres in Central Europe, with the Schloßberg and the Uhrturm rising above the Mur and the Kunsthaus — the friendly alien — glowing blue across the river.
