The last wave of flights into Prague lands late. Delayed connections, long-haul arrivals from the Gulf and North America, and budget flights with last-minute slots fill the arrivals halls well after midnight. That is when the airport is at its most confusing: the express bus has stopped, the night network runs on a different timetable, the taxi queue is longest, and you have been travelling since morning. This guide covers late-night arrivals at Prague Airport: what still runs, the half-hour when nothing does, what happens if your flight is delayed, and how the same logic applies to very early departures.
Late-night arrival at Prague Airport at a glance
- Airport: Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG). Terminal 1 handles non-Schengen flights (UK, US, Middle East, long-haul) and Terminal 2 handles Schengen and EU flights.
- Distance to the centre: about 20 km. At night the drive to Old Town or Vinohrady usually takes 25 minutes or less.
- Public transport after midnight: the night bus 910 runs until about 03:54. Daytime trolleybus 59 restarts at around 04:22. Between the two, nothing runs.
- Official taxi rank: open 24/7 at both terminals. Late at night it often has the longest queue of the day.
- Pre-booked chauffeur: the driver tracks your flight, waits inside Arrivals with a name board, and includes up to 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.
- Price: one fixed quote agreed before you fly, with any night-hour pricing already included, so nothing is added at the kerb. See our airport transfer service.
The short version: if you land after 23:00 with luggage, children or a hotel that wants you checked in, arrange the transfer before you fly.
What still runs at Prague Airport after midnight
Prague's airport is busy until late, but the transport around it slows down after 23:00. Here is what to expect:
- The Airport Express (AE) bus to the main railway station stops in the evening. It is not an option for a midnight arrival.
- Night bus 910 takes over from the daytime trolleybus and links the airport to the night network. It works, but it means a connection, a night tram or a walk at the other end, and it only runs about every half hour.
- The official taxi rank stays open all night in front of both terminals. After a late long-haul arrival, though, several hundred people can reach the kerb at once.
- Hotel shuttles exist at a few airport hotels, but almost none serve city-centre hotels at night.
None of this is unsafe. Prague is a calm city at night. But each option needs decisions at the point when you are least able to make them: which ticket, which stop, which queue, which address to show the driver.
The gap: 03:54 to 04:22
There is one window each night when no public transport serves Prague Airport at all. The last night bus 910 leaves at around 03:54, and trolleybus 59, which replaced the old bus 119, does not start until around 04:22. Delayed flights, especially those that left the Gulf or the US late, often land in or just before this window.
If you land in that window, you have three options: queue at the taxi rank, wait in the terminal for the first trolleybus, or walk out to a driver who is already there. For more on every daytime and night-time option, see our complete guide to getting from Prague Airport to the city centre.
What happens if your flight is late
Late arrivals are often delayed arrivals. A flight scheduled for 23:10 lands at 01:30, and you could not have planned for it. A pre-booked transfer is set up for exactly this:
- The flight is tracked, not the clock. We follow your flight number, so the pickup moves with the actual landing time. You do not need to message anyone from the aircraft or the gate.
- Free waiting starts when you land. Up to 60 minutes after touchdown are included, which covers passport control at Terminal 1, a slow baggage belt and the walk through customs.
- The driver is inside the hall. Your chauffeur waits in Arrivals with a name board, not in a car park or an app pickup zone. See how this works terminal by terminal in our Prague Airport meet and greet guide.
- Nothing is renegotiated at the kerb. The fixed quote you accepted before you flew is what you pay, whatever time you actually walk out.
One tip: share a phone number that will work when you land, either a roaming number or one you can use on airport Wi-Fi. It is a fallback. With a name board in the hall you will rarely need it.
Getting into your hotel at 02:00
The airport is only half the problem. The other half is a hotel or apartment at two in the morning. A few habits from our late-night pickups:
- Tell the hotel you are arriving late. Most Prague hotels have a 24-hour reception, but boutique hotels and smaller guesthouses sometimes lock the door after midnight. A short email the day before avoids standing on a cobbled street with a suitcase.
- Apartments and key boxes. If you are staying in a rental, save the check-in instructions and the door code offline. Your chauffeur can wait while you open the door, and that is standard.
- Food. Few kitchens are open at 02:00. Bottled water is in every car, and if you need a 24-hour shop on the way, just ask.
- Address in writing. Old Town streets can have similar names. We confirm your exact address when you book, so you will not need to explain it at night.
Families and solo travellers at night
Late arrivals are hardest for families and travellers alone.
- Children. Child seats, whether a rear-facing infant seat, a forward-facing toddler seat or a booster, are fitted before the driver leaves for the airport, at no extra cost. Tell us the children's ages when you book. Sleeping children can be carried straight from the hall to a car that is already set up.
- Travelling alone. You know the name of the driver, the car and the booking before you board. Nobody approaches you with an offer and you do not have to choose a car at the kerb. You walk out with the driver who has your name on the board.
- Lots of luggage. After a long trip, two suitcases and a stroller do not fit in an ordinary saloon. Book the V-Class (up to 6 passengers and 6 bags) and the luggage question is settled.
The other end of the night: early-morning departures
The same logic applies in reverse. Prague's first departures leave around 06:00, so many travellers leave their hotel at 04:00, when public transport has barely restarted.
Work backwards from your flight:
- Your airline's recommended arrival time. Usually around two hours before departure for Schengen flights and up to three hours for long-haul. Check your own airline.
- The drive: about 25 minutes from the centre at that hour.
- A small margin: 10–15 minutes for loading luggage and the early security queue.
For example, for a 06:30 flight to London (non-Schengen, Terminal 1), aim to be at the airport by about 04:00 and get picked up in Old Town at around 03:30. For a 07:00 flight to Paris (Schengen, Terminal 2), aim for about 05:00 and a pickup at around 04:25.
Your chauffeur is waiting outside the hotel before the agreed time, so you do not need to call a car and wait in the lobby. If you are leaving very early, ask the hotel for a breakfast box the evening before. Most will prepare one.
Practical tips for landing in Prague late at night
- Book before you fly, at least a few hours ahead, and include the flight number.
- Download offline maps and your accommodation details in case your phone dies or roaming fails.
- Only take a car that was arranged for you, either at the official taxi rank or with your pre-booked driver. Ignore anyone who approaches you inside the terminal offering a ride.
- Keep some euros or a card handy for tips or small purchases. Your transfer itself is paid in advance.
- Arriving from outside Schengen? Allow extra time at Terminal 1 passport control. Your free waiting time is there for that.

Frequently asked questions
Are taxis available 24/7 at Prague Airport, including late at night? Yes. The official taxi rank operates 24 hours a day at both terminals. Late at night the queue is often longest, especially when several long-haul flights land together. A pre-booked chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall instead.
Is there public transport from Prague Airport after midnight? Yes, the night bus 910 runs until about 03:54 and trolleybus 59 restarts at about 04:22. Between those times no public transport serves the airport. The Airport Express bus does not run late at night.
What happens if my flight to Prague lands hours late? With a pre-booked transfer, the pickup follows your flight number, so the driver adjusts to the actual landing time automatically. Up to 60 minutes of waiting after landing are included, and the fixed quote does not change.
How long does it take to get from Prague Airport to the city centre at night? About 25 minutes or less to Old Town, Malá Strana or Vinohrady, since the roads are empty. The distance is roughly 20 km.
What time should I leave my Prague hotel for an early-morning flight? Add your airline's recommended arrival time, about two hours for Schengen and up to three for long-haul, to the 25-minute drive and a 10–15 minute margin. For a 06:30 flight to London, that means a pickup at around 03:30.
Is it more expensive to book a transfer for a night arrival? We agree one fixed quote before you fly, with any night-hour pricing already included, so the amount you accept is the amount you pay. Request a quote with your flight number.
